Richtersveld tour – 4 days, 3 Nights
Day 1 – 26 June 2014
Activity – Arrival at Sendelingsdrift. Meet & Greet tourist guide Conrad Mouton, Aukwatowa Tours.
Activity – Depart for De Hoop camp on banks of Orange River. We will be visiting Witgat tree, (Shepherds tree) and Potjiespram on our way driving through Halfmens pass. Stopping at Halfmens. I will explain the Halfmens. Visiting the Hand of God, I will tell story of the Hand. From here we drive through Akkedis pass and Koeroegab vlakte through Kook River and Kook River Gorge to De Hoop. Overnight: De Hoop (Camp)
Notes – Please bring warm clothes for evenings. Sunscreen for during the day and hats. Own toiletries as there is ablution. I will tell some stories about diamond mining, diamond theft, locals, etc. Previously worked in the diamond mines, fisherman, military etc. Won the Welcome Awards for National Best tourist Guide in 2008. Day 2 – 27 June 2014
Activity – Breakfast
Activity – Depart for day drive through Domrogh pass and Abiekwas river looking at beautiful scenery and plants. I will tell tales and stories. We will make some pot bread for the evening. We will see how it goes and will very quickly see where we can put in our skills to make the trip memorable for you. Overnight: De Hoop Camp.
Notes – Do not forget your camera. We supply headlamps, binoculars for duration of trip.
Day 3 – 28 June 2014
Activity – Breakfast
Activity – Depart for Kokerboomkloof through Maerpoort very beautiful scenery. Here we can view some rock formations, quiver trees, 3 species, plants and birds. Rock formations are the Toe, Witches Family, Louise se Hond, Queen Victoria, Dumstick, and etc. I will collect some Dassie piss for me, of medicinal use. Look at some game gemsbok, Springbok, Klipspringer on our way back to De Hoop. Return to camp. At leisure til dinner. Guest can take a walk along the Orange river if they choose to. Overnight: De Hoop Camp.
Notes – Breakfast, lunch and dinner: You will be responsible for that. Me and the helper/cook will eat with you but will bring along our food. De Hoop Camp is fully booked most of the time, but I will try to find accommodation for us. Alternatively we will use Richtersberg if we can’t find accommodation at De Hoop. Will let you know as soon as possible.
Day 4 – 29 June 2014
Activity – Breakfast: Early start to the day to ensure best possible photographic opportunities. Breaking down camp and pack up. Depart for Helskloof gate looking at plants, sceneries and photography. En route I will show you very rare plants like rabbits food, bandaged vinger, stapelias, Pearson aloe, and many more. We drive trough Helskloof pass, and exit at Helskloof gate. From here drive up to Alexanderbay and back to Port Nolloth. Overnight: Port Nolloth Camp.
Activity – End of Arrangement.
